CHUJO KARATE ASSOCIATION CKA was founded in 1984 under the instruction of Dan Redmond Sensei SHICHIDAN
The Association is a member of the Northern Ireland Karate Board. NIKB is recognised by the Sports Council as the governing body for Karate in Northern Ireland.
It is the intention of the CKA to promote traditional Wado Ryu Karate in its purest form and the Association prides itself in setting high standards of instruction as a means of developing good quality karate ka. Although Wado Ryu karate is our base art we are also open minded about taking part in regular cross training. This training involves separate classes in grappling techniques and realistic practice drills for self defence situations.
The Chujo Karate Association has six affiliated clubs holding Separate classes for children, adults, beginners, advanced students and improvers.
Black Belt coaches will assist participants in progressing through belt qualifications, while karate also has the added benefits of helping participants stay fit, meet new friends, learn self defence and gain confidence
No special clothes are needed to begin classes. A tracksuit or a pair of loose fitting trousers and T-shirt will suffice. White GIs (suits) are available at all classes.
Dan Redmond has been involved in Martial Arts for over 40 years and was awarded the Services to Sport Award in 2009.
The past 30+ years have been in coaching. His involvement in karate includes competing for Northern Ireland, Treasurer to Northern Ireland Karate Board, Representing NIKB at the Martial Arts Commission, Kumite and Kata Referee, Kumite and Kata Judge, Karate NVQ Assessor and CKA Chairman/Coach.
Dan formed the Chujo Karate Association in 1984 and members have gone on to represent Northern Ireland at International level and to win National Individual Titles.
Dan Redmond and the Chujo Karate Association are respected throughout the World
